Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP North Tongu

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu in the Volta Region of the National Democratic Congress(NDC),  Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is asking why is provision not made in the 2020 Budget as presented by Ken Ofori-Atta.

In a facebook post, the former deputy minister for education bemoan the missing of the Volta Region from critical road projects by the government.

‘Why is provision not made in the 2020 Budget for critical road projects in the case of only the Volta Region? (See table below), the worried Legislator wrote on his timeline.

‘How does the Akufo-Addo Administration expect, particularly, Lawmakers from the Volta Region to explain this to our constituents, He quizzed?

‘More fundamentally, how will Government justify this aberration in the face of the 1992 Constitution which enjoins Governments to undertake even and balanced development of all regions?

The government has through the Finance Minister announced its intention to embark on a massive road construction project in 2020, describing the coming year as “The Year of Roads.

The announcement comes after days of violent protests in some parts of the country over poor road networks.
