President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufu-Addo

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called for the unalloyed support of all religious organizations in the country to effectively help tackle the creeping culture of homosexuality in the country.

The President said the practice was against all religious persuasions and disingenuous to the growth of the rich Ghanaian cultural values on marriage and sexual life.

This was made known in a speech read on his behalf at the 60th anniversary celebration of the Church of Christ in Cape Coast last Sunday.

The President indicated that homosexuals and lesbianism did not have any rights in nation’s religion, traditional and cultural heritage which defined the Ghanaian.

President Akufo-Addo while acknowledging the enormity of the task ahead of government, it had begun implementing policies and programmes to restore the economy on the right path to engender growth.

He therefore urged the populace to exhibit maximum patience as modalities for the commencement massive projects and programmes to ameliorate the plights of the people.

President Akufo-Addo appealed to the Church of Christ and all Christians in the country to pray for the government to enable it to fulfill its mandate to Ghanaians.

He entreated the leadership of the church to continue to invest in the moral and spiritual development of the members of the church.

Most Rev. Dr Daniel Markin, Leader and Apostle general of the Church also spoke against the menace of homosexuality and lesbianism in the country.

The Church of Christ abhor the practice and determined to work with all interest group to effectively tackle it.

He called on Ghanaians to eschew excuses and join in building the nation for economic prosperity.

The challenge before us is to build our economy and generate a prosperous, progressive and dignified life for the mass of our people. Hard work, enterprise, creativity and a consistent fight against corruption in public life would bring the transformation we seek,” he said.
