The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has vowed to crack down on bottlenecks hindering the smooth implementation of the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM), assuring businesses in the LPG distribution chain that their concerns will be tackled head-on.

The Chief Executive of the NPA, Godwin Kudzo Tameklo Esq., led a high-powered delegation on a fact-finding mission to three major LPG Bottling Plants—Goil, New Gas, and Blue Ocean—in the Tema industrial enclave. The visit, aimed at assessing on-ground operations, forms part of the Authority’s renewed commitment to ensuring the full rollout of the CRM without hurdles.
Speaking during the tour, Mr. Tameklo reaffirmed the NPA’s stance as a pro-business regulator, dedicated to protecting compliant Ghanaian businesses while upholding the highest safety and operational standards.

“The NPA is committed to working closely with stakeholders to resolve outstanding challenges and push forward the implementation of the CRM. We will not allow industry saboteurs to derail this critical policy,” he assured.

Flanked by his two deputies, Dr. Sheila Addo and Dr. Dramani Bukari, Mr Tameklo noted that the CRM was designed to modernize LPG distribution, improve safety, and make clean cooking fuel more accessible to Ghanaians. However, he acknowledged persistent issues raised by bottling plant operators—including the proliferation of unlicensed dealers engaging in illegal LPG door-to-door sales.

“This unauthorized practice is dangerous and directly undermines the safety regulations in place. We are taking swift action to clamp down on those violating the law,” he declared.
The NPA boss assured industry players that the government is fully behind the CRM agenda, with decisive measures being put in place to eliminate illegalities, enhance compliance, and ensure that legitimate businesses thrive.

“The CRM is a game-changer for Ghana’s energy sector, and we will ensure it succeeds. Those engaging in shortcuts and illegal LPG sales must brace for the full force of the law,” he warned.

With the NPA’s renewed vigilance and commitment, stakeholders in the LPG industry can expect a more transparent, structured, and safe operational environment in the coming months.
