Late John Kumah

Ahead of the final burial rites for John Kumah scheduled for May 18, 2024, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership, through its General Secretary, has announced a timetable for the by-election to fill his vacant parliamentary seat.

In a statement signed by Justin Frimpong Kodua, the party disclosed that the election to select Kumah’s successor will take place on April 13, 2024.

Prospective candidates are required to purchase nomination forms for Ghc 3,000 at the party’s headquarters, with a filing fee set at Ghc 35,000, as outlined in the statement.

The vacancy in the Ejisu seat arose following the passing of Deputy Finance Minister John A. Kumah, who served as the Member of Parliament. Despite being re-elected unopposed as the parliamentary candidate, Kumah’s tenure was cut short by illness.

At 45, Kumah succumbed to a terminal illness, leaving behind a wife and six children.
