Akwasi Addai Odike, a fiery member of the Alliance for Revolutionary Change, has launched a blistering attack on former President John Agyekum Kufuor, accusing him of backing President Akufo-Addo out of fear that his own alleged corrupt dealings would be brought to light.
“Kufuor is scared of Akufo-Addo. Want to know why? He’s terrified his dirty secrets will be exposed if he dares speak against him,” Odike fumed, laying bare his accusations.
The sharp-tongued Odike took Kufuor to task for his silence over the sidelining of party heavyweights Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong, alleging that Kufuor’s complicity in Akufo-Addo’s actions stems from a dark past filled with questionable deals. “When Akufo-Addo dumped Afoko and Agyapong, Kufuor kept his mouth shut. He didn’t protest; instead, he jumped on board with Akufo-Addo’s reckless moves,” Odike lashed out.
The Alliance for Revolutionary Change leader also honed in on a controversial oil deal from Kufuor’s era, slamming the ex-president for accepting a paltry 12% share for Ghana while Equatorial Guinea raked in a far better 49%. “How could Kufuor sign off on a deal where Ghana got just 12% while Equatorial Guinea took 49%? We’re in the same global market! What was the real deal here?” Odike demanded.
He didn’t hold back, accusing Kufuor of betraying the nation’s interests for personal gain. “Kufuor has robbed Ghanaians blind. If you get paid to serve this country and don’t put its interests first, what do you expect from us?” Odike hit back.
