The chieftaincy dispute has been the subject of litigation at the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, where a restraining order has been placed against all claimants to the Osu Stool, including Botchway. The Kinkawe Dzaase revealed that while the officially installed Osu Mantse, Teteete Nii Nortey Owuo IV—known in private life as Nicholas Nii Nortey Owuo, a Civil Engineer with the Ghana Highway Authority—has complied with the court’s directive, Botchway has continued to disregarded it with impunity.

“Despite the court’s restraining order, Bernard Botchway continues to disrespect our legal system. His continuous disregard for the Restraining Order is the subject of contempt proceedings at the High Court in Accra,” the statement added.

Political Backing Allegations
The Kinkawe Dzaase further accused Botchway of leveraging political connections to bolster his legitimacy.
“It is clear that Bernard Botchway has been empowered by some persons in the previous NPP government. He has been using photo opportunities with political figures, diplomats, and business leaders to gain public influence and acceptance,” the Dzaase alleged.
The statement also implicated one Ishmael Nortey Adumuah in Botchway’s claim to the stool, stating that Adumuah has no authority to install a chief. According to the Dzaase, Adumuah has been suspended and dismissed as Oshiahene of Osu Kinkawe.

Caution to Public Officials and Organizations
In light of these developments, the Kinkawe Dzaase has advised government agencies, political appointees, business organizations, and diplomatic missions to exercise caution in their dealings with Bernard Botchway and Ishmael Nortey Adumuah.

“As directed by the Judicial Committee of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, all authority concerning the Osu Traditional Area and the Osu Stool has been vested in the Osu Kinkawe Dzaase under the leadership of the Dzaasetse, Nii Saban Atsen VII,” the statement concluded.
The chieftaincy dispute in Osu remains a contentious issue, with the Kinkawe Dzaase insisting that the rightful occupant of the stool is Teteete Nii Nortey Owuo IV. The legal battles surrounding the matter are expected to continue in the coming months.
