The new Assembly to serve the SALL areas would be inaugurated at the newly constructed Assembly Complex on Friday, October 8, 2021.

According to the programme of event issued, sector Minister, Hon. Dan Kweku Botwe supported by the Oti Regional Minister, would hold an inaugural ceremony beginning 10am.

Minister Dan Botwe will inaugurate the new Assembly, even as the Assembly would be waiting to commence business immediately with the nomination and confirmation of District Chief Executive.

The Guan District Assembly covers the Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe and Lolobi traditional areas (SALL)

The Guan Local Government area comprises of thirteen Electoral Areas with Thirteen Assembly members.

The Electoral Areas are Likpe Bakua, Likpe Mate, Likpe Bala, Likpe Agbozome, Likpe Kukurantumi, and Lolobi Kumasi. The rest are Lolobi Ashambi, Akpafu Adorkor, Akpafu Todzi, Akapfu Mempeasem, including Akpafu Odomi, Santrokofi Gbordome and Santrokofi Benua.

It is the wish of the elected Assembly Members that the Assembly would be inaugurated for them to start representing the interests of their Electoral Areas.

The thirteen Electoral Areas were part of 6,700 electoral areas across the country in which District Assemble den Unit Committee elections were conducted in December 2019.

Two years on, the validly elected Assembly members of areas have not been inducted and sworn in to perform the functions for which electorates defied the nature to elect them.

They were neither inducted into Jasikan Municipal Assembly, nor Hohoe Municipal Assembly. They were left hanging like bats not knowing their fate.

‘It’s our conceded hope that the inauguration would pave way for the induction of the elected Assembly members to enable the Assembly take-off’

‘After the inauguration, the Assembly will be duly constituted and a Presiding Member elected’.

‘Thereafter, a District Chief Executive can nominated by His Excellency the President of the Republic’, an opinion leader told the Hawk.
