The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has announced its intention to bestow the prestigious Honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD) degree, Honoris Causa, upon Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, Paramount Chief of the Oguaa Traditional Area.
This decision is in recognition of Osabarima Kwesi Atta II’s exceptional contributions to the University of Cape Coast, the Central Region of Ghana, and the global community. His unwavering commitment to promoting peace, unity, and development, as well as his dedication to preserving Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, has earned him this esteemed honor.
The University commends Osabarima for his invaluable efforts in fostering harmonious relations between the University and its neighboring communities. His proactive engagement has played a pivotal role in creating an environment conducive to academic pursuits.
A press release issued by Major Kofi Baah-Bentum (Rtd), Psc, APR, the Director of the Directorate of Public Affairs at UCC, highlighted Osabarima’s exemplary service as a member of the 2012 Constitution Review Commission. His calm demeanor and adept conflict resolution skills have significantly contributed to peace and stability in Cape Coast.
The ceremony to confer the honorary degree upon Osabarima Kwesi Atta II is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 11th April 2024, at the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) Auditorium, UCC, starting at 11:00 am.
