Prominent figures within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of the Eastern Region have come together to express their strong support for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign to secure the NPP’s flagbearer position for the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Key NPP personalities, including lawmakers and constituency chairmen, have praised Dr Bawumia’s unwavering party loyalty, impeccable character, remarkable competence, robust leadership qualities, and diligent work ethic both in opposition and in government. These endorsements are resonating widely, providing substantial backing for Dr Bawumia within the party.
Among the endorsing MPs are Dan Botwe (Okere), O. B. Amoah (Akuapem South), Kojo Oppong Nkrumah (Ofoase Ayirebi), Bryan Acheampong (Abetifi), Samuel Atta Akyea (Abuakwa South), Frank Annoh-Dompreh (Nsawam Adoagyiri), and others.
Dan Botwe, MP for Okere, underscored the strategic importance of selecting Dr Bawumia to lead the party in the 2024 elections, drawing on his extensive NPP experience. O. B. Amoah, Akuapem South MP, echoed the grassroots enthusiasm for Dr Bawumia’s leadership. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, MP for Ofoase Ayirebi, highlighted Dr Bawumia’s past commitment to the party’s cause. Bryan Acheampong, Abetifi MP, affirmed the sentiment of party members. Samuel Atta Akyea, Abuakwa South MP, praised Dr Bawumia’s contributions to the party and government, including his role in the Supreme Court during the presidential election petition.
These endorsements follow Vice President Bawumia’s extensive nationwide tour to meet with NPP delegates across all 275 constituencies. His campaign has spanned various regions, including Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western, and Central. As Dr Bawumia concludes his Eastern Region tour, he will have visited a total of 154 constituencies out of 275, enjoying substantial support from key party figures.
With backing from influential party members, political analysts predict that Dr Bawumia’s bid for the NPP flagbearer position will gain significant momentum.
