Barely two years after assuming office as the District Chief Executive of Krachi Nchumuru District, Augustine Akwasi Appiah is enmeshed in a power play that threatens to consume him.
The plot by some influential persons within the party who are dissatisfied with his style of leadership to remove him as District Chief Executive is gathering steam by the day.
TheHawkGhana gathered that the grouse of these party leadership who are angling for his removal is that he is engaging in contract racketeering, disregard for party structure and sexually abusing their wives and sisters.
The Augustine-led Assembly is accused of not working in tandem with the government’s agenda. He is reported to be working against the electoral fortunes of the party in the District.
Confirming the plot to remove Augustine Appiah as DCE, Polling Station Officers last weekend raised an alarm over alleged clandestine move by Augustine Appiah to frustrate the plans of the executives to reposition the NPP within the constituency through a demonstration.
The leadership of the party in the district took to the principal roads of Chinderi, the District Capital to drum home their demand for the replacement of the DCE.
In a petition handed to the District Police Commander by the agitating party foot soldiers, led by Nana Yaw Anane.
Reading the petition to the District, Police Commander, Nana Yaw Anane said, they can’t take the misbehavior of the DCE any further. He said, the government have the responsibility of replacing him or they advise themselves.
Friday’s demonstration was heralded by several petitions to the Regional and National party for consideration and action needed taken.
But all attempts by Regional Executives of the party to get the embattled DCE to adjust his head and sit-up has proved futile because Augustine Akwasi Appiah claims he bought and fully paid for his post and he will not be a subject for any party leader to manipulate.
For the DCE, he is not accountable to any party official but His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He said, he is answerable to the President, the Local government minister and the Regional Minister.
