Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made a significant appointment in his campaign team, signaling a commitment to inclusivity and representation. Honourable Joshua Makubu, the former Oti Regional Minister, has been appointed as the campaign Coordinator for Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs.

Mr. Makubu, who previously served as the inaugural Minister of the Oti Region, found himself subject to the President’s reshuffle on February 14, 2023, which led to his replacement by Daniel Machator, the former Head of Public Relations at the University of Media, Arts, and Communication.

This appointment reflects Dr. Bawumia’s dedication to amplifying the voices and concerns of marginalized communities, particularly those with disabilities and special needs. It aligns with his longstanding advocacy for their active participation in national development and governance.

The role assigned to Mr. Makubu underscores the campaign’s commitment to formulating policies that foster inclusivity and harness the diverse talents and energies of all citizens towards Ghana’s progress. His wealth of experience and understanding of the challenges faced by persons with disabilities positions him as a valuable asset in shaping policies that cater to their needs.

Mr. Makubu joins a distinguished roster of current and former government officials within the NPP’s campaign team, which is spearheaded by Dan Botwe, the Member of Parliament for Okere Constituency. This strategic move not only reinforces the party’s dedication to inclusivity but also highlights its recognition of the importance of representation and diversity in governance and policymaking.
